Upgrade of Data Leakage Prevention (DLP) Software on Staff PCs

The Data Leakage Prevention (“DLP”) project is an effort of the University to equip staff PCs with a solution to protect potential leakage of personal data kept on USB Portable Storage Device (“PSD”) such as USB flash drives.

A new version of the DLP software is being deployed to all HKU staff PCs in departments, in batches, from early January to mid-March 2018.  This new DLP version 5.0.4 can address the following issues-

  • Compatible with Windows 10 Fall Creators Update (version 1709); and
  • USB PSD initialized by the new DLP software is accessible using Mac OS (High Sierra 10.13.x).

Information about the new features of the DLP software can be found at FAQ webpage of the DLP website.

The software upgrade will be automatically done on staff PCs connected to the HKU campus network (not including Wi-Fi.HK) through the DLP server.  Colleagues will only be required to manually restart their PCs when a restart message is prompted so as to complete the upgrade step.
