HKU Participated in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Supercomputer Alliance

To promote scientific research collaboration and supercomputing applications in the Greater Bay Area, the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Supercomputer Alliance (GHMSA) was formed.  GHMSA was initiated by the National Supercomputer Center in Guangzhou (NSCC-GZ) located in the Sun Yat-sen University (SYSU).  It aims at bringing together institution talents of computational science to promote

  1. development of innovative supercomputing (high-performance computing) applications;
  2. resource sharing; and
  3. scientific research collaboration across Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macau.

This collaborative effort can also facilitate the formation of inno-tech hub at the Greater Bay Area.

An inauguration ceremony of GHMSA was held at the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau University Alliance Presidents’ Forum on 9 July 2018.  HKU is one of the founding members of GHMSA and the other 8 founding members are: 

Guangdong: Sun Yat-sen University, South China University of Technology, Jinan University, Guangdong University of Technology

Hong Kong: The University of Hong Kong, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and The Hong Kong Polytechnic University

Macau: University of Macau
