The following software items are available for use by staff and/or students without additional cost, subject to the terms described in the following sections-
Under the coverage of Microsoft Enrollment for Education Solutions (EES, previously called Microsoft Campus Agreement), faculty and staff of subscribing departments have the right to download and install Microsoft Office ProPlus (Office 365 ProPlus) on up to 5 personal machines (PC or Mac) and Office apps on 5 mobile devices including Android, iPad, and Windows tablets without additional cost. Under the latest version of Office 365 ProPlus, they can also use Microsoft's online cloud storage OneDrive for Business (1 TB in size) and Skype for Business. New staff joining EES subscribing departments will receive an email from ITS informing them the availability of this service after their HKU Portal account is created.
The right to use will expire when staff and faculty leave or retire from the University, or change to work under another department not subscribing to EES. After the expiry date, Office 365 ProPlus will be deactivated and access to Office apps, OneDrive for Business and Skype for Business on their personal device(s) will become unavailable. The data stored on OneDrive for Business will be deleted after the use right is updated and removed.
The right to use Office 365 ProPlus for Students is covered under the Microsoft Student Advantage (MSSA) Program, which is also an offering covered under the EES. New students will receive an email from ITS informing them the availability of this service after their HKU Portal account is created.
Each University student can download and install Microsoft Office ProPlus (Office 365 ProPlus) on up to 5 machines being PC or Mac as well as Office apps on 5 mobile devices without additional cost.
Students’ right to use the Microsoft Office ProPlus offered under MSSA will expire after they leave or graduate from the University. The expiry date will align with that of the HKU Portal account and Microsoft products installed will be deactivated after the expiry date.
