Dear colleagues,

To prepare for the upcoming pay adjustment for eligible staff, all functions supported by the Human Capital Management System (HCMS) under Manager Self Service (e.g. Staff Appointments, FCF) and the administrative roles (e.g. FCSC, Recruiting and Workforce Administration) available under HKU Portal will be temporarily unavailable during the following period for carrying out the necessary system work-

Service suspension period: 8 August 2015 (Saturday) 9 am to 9 August 2015 (Sunday) noon

- Applications hosting under HKU Portal and other central servers related to students, research, CEDARS, finance, estates, etc.: Sunday 8 am - 2 pm
- Network and IP phone services in 10/F Laboratory Block, Faculty of Medicine Building: Sunday 9 am - 5pm
- Network at Cyberport campus: Sunday 2 pm - 5 pm
- Internet and HKU website: Sunday 4 pm - 6 pm

2015/05/07 21:00 (Thursday) - 2015/05/08 06:00 (Friday) - Maintenance of Lecture Capture Service

The Lecture Capture Service (LCS) powered by the Panopto system supports teachers and students to do video recording of lectures, and viewing through Moodle courses.
It will be upgraded to version 4.8 in the following period where all access to the Panopto service will be suspended.

- Date & Time: May 7, 2015 (Thursday) 9:00 PM to May 8, 2015 (Friday) 6:00 AM

After the upgrade, LCS will resume service using the new Panopto v4.8 server system. The new client Panopto Recorder v4.8 software will also be upgraded in all central classrooms.
Teachers can install or upgrade the client Panopto Recorder v4.8 software in their PCs for Panopto recording after 6am, May 8.

Note that the upgrade to v4.8 by Panopto engineers was unsuccessful on 7 Apr 2015. They have performed detailed problem investigations and prepared improvements for this coming upgrade.

2015/05/02 13:00 (Saturday) - 2015/05/03 18:00 (Sunday) - Scheduled Maintenance on May 2-3, 2015

The following maintenance will be carried out on May 2-3, 2015 (this Saturday and Sunday) and the major services to be affected include WiFi service at Main Campus, Oracle Financials and finance-related systems, central servers supporting in-house applications, Human Capital Management System (HCMS) and network services in Faculty of Medicine Building.

On May 2 and May 3, new Web Application Firewall will be installed between 4pm and 6pm. Possible network connection interruptions may occur during this period. The learning management system Moodle and the lecture capture service Panopto may thus be affected. You are advised not to edit any course contents, or submit assignments or quizzes during this period.
