To raise staff and students’ awareness about information security and to promote good practices for keeping them safe from information security traps, ITS, in collaboration with the Data Protection Officer of the University and the Office of Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data (PCPD) of HKSAR, organized the “Information Security Awareness Week 2014/15” during November 24-28, 2014.
During the awareness week, an exhibition booth was set up at the Run Run Shaw Podium to showcase a variety of topics related to mobile device security. Visitors to the booth were invited to participate in a quiz aiming at reinforcing their awareness of information security risks, good practices in using USB storage, personal data protection, cyber security, phishing and mobile security.
PCPD also set up a booth next to that of ITS to promote awareness of personal data protection and providing tips on how to ensure online privacy.
Two workshops were held on November 25 and 27, 2014. Mr Kane Wu, Senior Consultant from Ernst & Young Advisory Services Limited, spoke on personal data and privacy legislation and information security protection measures, and Mr Joe Poon, University Data Protection Officer, also assisted in answering questions related to the University’s code of practice on data protection from the audience. The sessions were very well received and attended by over 200 participants.
