Updates on uPrint Service

1. New Data Retention Policy on Printing and Purchase Records

To comply with the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance - DPP2 Accuracy and Duration of Retention, starting from 2 January 2020, the data retention policy for handling uPrint printing and purchase records will be as follows:

  1. Retention period of printing records – 2 years
     
  2. Retention period of purchase records – 7 years

Users can continue looking up their uPrint printing and purchase records at https://enquiry.uprint.hku.hk/, and they can retrieve their records in accordance with the aforementioned data retention policy from 2 January 2020 onwards.

2. Retirement of Old Version of uPrint Client for Windows

New print clients for uPrint service (with new features) has been released since 3 August 2019.  To allow a gradual and smooth service transition, the old print client for Windows (uPrintLogin.exe) will continue to function until the end of 2019. 

Since the old print client for Windows (uPrintLogin.exe) will stop to function from 2 January 2020 onwards, users who are still using this old print client are reminded to do the following steps soon:  

  1. uninstall the old version of the print client (uPrintLogin.exe); and
     
  2. install the latest version of the uPrint client (please refer to the installation guide).
