Updates on Physical Teaching and Learning Environment

To allow more flexibility for teachers and students to use the centrally administered classrooms and learning environment during the COVID-19 pandemic, the following facilities have been updated to address the special needs for online teaching and learning.

1. Centrally Administered Classrooms

The following software items have been upgraded to the latest versions or newly installed in the classroom PCs:

For better audio reception, the classroom wireless microphone system is also upgraded and connected to these software applications.

Besides the built-in camera and PowerPoint presentation, more teaching video sources are optionally available.  The images of ceiling-mounted camera and visualizer can be captured simultaneously using Panopto.  For details, please refer to https://www.les.hku.hk/teaching-learning/about-classroom.

2. Learning Environment

Due to COVID-19, The Oval (KB 1/F) and The Curve (KKL 1/F and 2/F) have been closed until further notice.  The Lounge (MB238) in the Main Building is also permanently closed for redevelopment.

More resources and hygiene measures are being put in place in the Chi Wah Learning Commons (CWLC).  Users can only access CWLC via the ground floor entrance where a body temperature scanner is set up with hand rub at the security counter.  For more details, please refer to http://www.les.hku.hk/about-les/opening-hours.  Users can also contact 3917 8888 or 3917 8123 for immediate support.
