Report on Information Security and Personal Data Protection Awareness Week 2020 – New Normal Security

To raise University members’ awareness on information security and personal data protection, ITS organized the “Information Security and Personal Data Protection Awareness Week 2020” on 2-6 November 2020.  This year’s events were well received and over 800 staff and students joined the online Information Security seminars via Zoom, visited the exhibition and participated in the ISDM (Information Security and Data Management) online quiz contest.

Online Seminars

Over 500 participants joined the online seminars via Zoom on 4 November 2020.  We are honored to have invited the Executive Vice-President (Administration and Finance), Mr Steve Lo, to give an opening remark at the seminars.  An InfoSec micro movie on ransomware produced by ITS was also premiered at this occasion.

Consultants from Ernst & Young Advisory Services Limited introduced the six Data Protection principles and data protection techniques under the new normal.  The University Data Protection Officer, Mr Joe Poon, shared useful data protection concepts and tips from the perspective of HKU.   Experts in information security from Fortinet, Splunk Inc., Sophos and Network Box also talked about the latest cybersecurity threats and the useful techniques to mitigate these threats.
