2013/03/05 09:30 (Tuesday) - 2013/03/05 09:35 (Tuesday) - Upgrade of anti-spam gateway hardware

IT Services is performing a hardware upgrade of the anti-spam gateway as the existing ones have reached their support life-cycle. The anti-spam gateway will be switched from old appliances to new ones at 9:30, 5 Mar 2013. The switchover should be transparent to users except that users have to access the link https://ospam-filter.hku.hk/ instead of https://spam-filter.hku.hk/ to retrieve messages quarantined on or before switchover.

Please note that this old central quarantined system ospam-filter.hku.hk will be shut down after 31 days, i.e., on 5 Apr 2013 when all quarantined messages are purged automatically on the system.

2013/02/06 21:00 (Wednesday) - 2013/02/06 22:30 (Wednesday) - Suspension of HKU Portal services

Please note that there will be a scheduled maintenance on the database server supporting HKU Portal during the following period:

Date: 6 Feb 2013 (Wednesday)
Time: 9:00pm - 10:30pm

During the above period, the HKU Portal services will be suspended. Users are advised not to access HKU Portal during this maintenance period.

2013/01/27 00:00 (Sunday) - 2013/01/27 02:00 (Sunday) - Maintenance of the main campus telephone system with phone number prefix 2859-, 2857-, 2241- and 2219-

There will be a scheduled maintenance on the main campus PABX Telephone system (extensions with prefix 2859-, 2857-, 2241- and 2219-) to be carried out on:

Date: 27 January 2013 (Sunday)
Time: 00:00 to 02:00

During the maintenance period, telephone service will be interrupted for up to 30 minutes.

Users in main campus are thus advised not to use the Telephone service during the above mentioned period.

Should you encounter any telephone problem after the maintenance schedule, please report to our Computer Room at 2859 2496 during non-office hours. For support during office hours, please contact ithelp@hku.hk or 2859 2480.

2013/01/19 09:00 (Saturday) - 2013/01/19 11:30 (Saturday) - Service Interruption to Main Campus PABX System

There was a service interruption to the main campus PABX system on January 19, 2013 from 9:00am to 11:30am. The service of the main campus PABX system has been restored. PCCW has confirmed that they have resolved their own technical problem.

The interruption affected HKU telephone numbers with prefix 2857xxxx, 2859xxxx, 2241xxxx,and 2219xxxx only.

All IP phones, including the Centennial Campus and ITS, were not affected.

2013/01/17 06:00 (Thursday) - 2013/01/17 12:00 (Thursday) - Service Suspension of Moodle System

Please take note that the central Moodle Learning Management System will undergo an upgrade from version 2.3 to 2.4 and the Moodle Service will be suspended during the following period of time.

Date: January 17, 2013, Thursday (Tomorrow)
Time: 6:00 am to 12:00 noon

After the successful upgrade, the Moodle system will resume service as version 2.4. Please access Moodle after 12:00 noon. (In the unlikely event that the upgrade would be unsuccessful, it will fall back to version 2.3.)

The new version will bring system performance improvement and a number of system bug fixings. For details, please refer to the Moodle 2.4 release notes (http://docs.moodle.org/dev/Moodle_2.4_release_notes)

2013/01/17 05:30 (Thursday) - 2013/01/17 07:30 (Thursday) - Moodle restored from version 2.4 to 2.3

After upgrading the central Moodle Learning Management to version 2.4 in the morning today (17 Jan 2013), the Moodle System has been restored to version 2.3 due to the function Add an activity or resource failed to perform correctly in some PCs.

The restoration period took place between 5:30pm to 7:30pm today.

We are sorry that all files or activities submitted in Moodle between 12:00noon and 5:30pm on 17 Jan 2013 would be lost.

If you have made any update in your Moodle course(s) during this period (e.g. upload a file, create a new activity, submit an assignment or quiz) , you may need to re-upload or re-submit again.

2013/01/10 08:30 (Thursday) - 2013/01/10 08:45 (Thursday) - Moodle system maintenance

The production Moodle system is scheduled for an system maintenance from 8:30 - 8:45am on 10-Jan-2013 (Thu). It involves the upgrading and installation of new Moodle plugins. There will be some interruption of service during this 15 minutes. The service will be resumed once the maintenance work has been completed.
