Introduction of Moodle Learning Management and Panopto Lecture Capture Systems for Students – On Campus
Moodle is the centrally managed learning management system (LMS) at HKU. At the beginning of each academic year, usually August, new Moodle courses will be created based on the course information as registered in the Student Information System (SIS). Moodle courses are accessible through the “My eLearning tab” of HKU Portal by teachers, teaching assistants and course administrators. The system allows teachers to create flexible, intuitive and interactive courseware to support online teaching and learning activities.
The ITS Lecture Capture Services (LCS) is powered by Panopto lecture capture system, being integrated with the Moodle LMS, Panopto supports staff to do video recording using laptops and mobile devices, playing back through Moodle courses, video management, editing, sharing, and inside-video search.
After attending this introductory session, staff will understand the basics of HKU Moodle, how to use Moodle to create course web sites containing simple learning contents and collaborative activities, and how to communicate with students through their Moodle courses. Attendee will also learn how to install and use Panopto recorder software on a laptop, how to capture a lecture video with a combination of multiple video/audio sources and PowerPoint, and how to publish your recorded video to Moodle courses or share to others.
