Facial Identity Access Promotion Campaign

Information Technology Services (ITS) will launch the Facial Identity Access Promotion Campaign from 24 August 2026 to 29 September 2026 to encourage HKU students and staff to register for and experience HKU’s Facial Identity Access Service.

As part of HKU’s ongoing smart campus initiatives, the Facial Identity Access Service provides a convenient, secure, and contactless access experience at HKU Libraries (including branch libraries) and Chi Wah Learning Commons. Using facial recognition technology, users can enjoy seamless entry without the need to carry access cards or present physical credentials.

To celebrate the new academic year and encourage wider adoption of the service, eligible registrants will have the opportunity to receive souvenirs during the campaign period.

Campaign Period and Eligibility

HKU students and staff who successfully register for the Facial Identity Access Service during the campaign period, from 24 August 2026 to 29 September 2026, will be eligible to participate once in an on-site mini lucky draw at the Gift Redemption Booth and receive a small gift.

Please note that gift quantities are limited and will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis while stocks last. Each eligible participant may participate once only; repeated attempts will not be accepted. ITS reserves the right to make the final decision on all matters relating to the campaign.

  • 1 – 4 September 2026 (Tuesday – Friday), 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm
  • 8 September 2026 (Tuesday), 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm
  • 15 September 2026 (Tuesday), 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm
  • 22 September 2026 (Tuesday), 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm
  • 29 September 2026 (Tuesday), 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm

Sample gifts available in the lucky draw include ITS keyboard fidgets, Starbucks coupons, ITS tote bags, portable fans, and more, while stocks last.

Registration Methods

Users may register Facial Identity through:

  • Self-registration terminals located at:
    • Main Library (2/F)
    • Chi Wah Learning Commons (1/F)
    • Dental Library
    • Medical Library
  • HKU App (students only)

Terms and Conditions

  • The campaign is open to eligible HKU students and staff only.
  • Participants must successfully register for the Facial Identity Access Service during the campaign period from 24 August 2026 to 29 September 2026 (2pm).
  • Each eligible participant may join the on-site mini lucky draw once only.
  • Repeated participation or repeated gift redemption attempts will not be accepted.
  • Gift redemption is available only at the designated Gift Redemption Booth during the specified opening hours.
  • Gift quantities are limited and will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis while stocks last.
  • Gifts are randomly assigned through the on-site mini lucky draw and cannot be exchanged for cash or other items.
  • Sample gifts shown are for reference only and are subject to availability.
  • Participants may be required to present valid HKU identity proof for verification.
  • ITS reserves the right to verify participant eligibility and registration status.
  • ITS reserves the right to modify, suspend, or cancel the campaign arrangements if necessary.
  • ITS reserves the right to make the final decision on all matters relating to the campaign.
