More AI Models on HKU ChatGPT and HKU DALL·E, and APIs are Now Available to Students

1. HKU ChatGPT

New Text Models Added:
The following new text-based AI models have been available on HKU ChatGPT and the HKU ITS Developer Portal, offering improved reasoning, stronger coding support, and enhanced performance for both general users and developers.

2. HKU DALL·E

New Image Models Added:
The following image generation models have been added to HKU DALL·E and the HKU ITS Developer Portal, providing higher image quality and greater creative flexibility.

    • Nano Banana Pro (Gemini 3 Pro Image)
    • Nano Banana 2 (Gemini 3.1 Flash Image)

3. Model Retirement

The following models have been retired from HKU services:

  • ChatGPT gpt-5-chat
  • DALL·E 3
  • GPT Image 1
  • DeepSeek V3

Users are encouraged to migrate to the newer models listed above where applicable.

4. Student access to APIs on HKU ITS Developer Portal

Starting 17 March 2026, students can access the APIs on HKU ITS Developer Portal at https://developer.hku.hk to support their learning and build their projects.

Students can subscribe to the student-genai-services API product here. Upon the approval of the subscription request, an API key pair can be used for accessing chat completion, embedding, and image generation APIs using ChatGPT, DeepSeek, Gemini, Qwen, and GLM models.

The monthly token quota and rate limits apply across both the HKU ChatGPT/DALL·E web apps and the APIs on the Developer Portal.
