ITS Maintenance Windows 2020

ITS carries out regular maintenance of the University’s central IT environment generally in the first weekend of each month, from Saturday 1:00 pm to Sunday 11:00 pm.  The monthly maintenance windows in 2020 are scheduled as follows:

  • January 11-12, 2020 Note 1
  • February 1-2, 2020
  • March 7-8, 2020
  • April 4-5, 2020
  • May 2-3, 2020
  • June 6-7, 2020
  • July 4-5, 2020
  • August 1-2, 2020
  • September 5-6, 2020
  • October 3-4, 2020
  • November 7-8, 2020
  • December 5-6, 2020

On top of the above maintenance windows, 4 additional timeslots are scheduled in the following weekends (from Saturday 1:00 pm to Sunday 11:00 pm) in 2020 for coping with the increasing number of systems in operation:

  • February 22-23, 2020
  • May 23-24, 2020
  • June 20-21, 2020
  • October 17-18, 2020

During these periods, certain central IT services/systems could be closed or intermittently unavailable.  We will announce the specific services/systems affected prior to each maintenance window via e-Notice and the website - https://www.its.hku.hk/maintenance/schedule.  Departments are advised to avoid having critical events/activities that would rely heavily on the availability of central IT services during the maintenance windows.

For urgent situations, ITS may be required to carry out system maintenance/repair works outside the regular schedules.  We will notify the users concerned via the appropriate communication channels under such circumstances.
