To ensure continued access to the most advanced AI models at HKU, ITS is pleased to announce the following updates to the HKU ChatGPT web app (https://chatgpt.hku.hk) and HKU DALL- E web app (https://dalle.hku.hk).
1. HKU ChatGPT
- New Primary Model: gpt-5.1 will be introduced as the new primary model, replacing gpt-5, effective 3 December 2025. The gpt-5 model will simultaneously retire from the HKU ChatGPT web app.
The following models remain fully available for use: gpt-5-chat, gpt-5-mini, and gpt-5-nano.
- gemini-2.5-flash: This new model supports processing for images, PDFs, video, and audio.
- Chat History Preservation: An optional new feature will allow users to save and maintain a persistent record of their conversation history.
2.HKU DALL-E
- Google gemini-2.5-flash-image: A model for advanced image generation (also known as “Nano Banana”) will be added, effective 3 December 2025.
