MFA Required for HKU Application Access via the Internet (Effective 6 July 2026)

To enhance the protection of your account and personal data against unauthorized access, Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) will be required for accessing HKU applications via the Internet starting from 6 July 2026.

When accessing HKU applications from outside the campus network, you will be required to verify your login using HKU MFA.

  • If you have already completed MFA when logging in to the HKU Portal during the same session, you will not be asked again when accessing other HKU applications (Single Sign-On).
  • Otherwise, you will be prompted to complete MFA as part of the login process.

You can also use the available MFA self-service functions to check or reset your MFA settings when needed: https://its.hku.hk/services/accounts-mfa/multi-factor-authentication-mfa/

ITS will continue to strengthen security measures to safeguard your account and personal information.
