The HKU App is developed and maintained by the Information Technology Services (ITS) of The University of Hong Kong (HKU). We follow the University’s Privacy Policy, available at: https://hku.hk/about/policies_reports/privacy_policy.html.
Use of Location Data
The HKU App accesses your device’s location for the sole purpose of supporting the Attendance Function of the HKU App. When you attend an event that uses the attendance feature:
- The app uses Bluetooth to detect beacons installed at the venue.
- Location access is required to confirm that you are physically present at the event location.
- When the event starts and you arrive at the venue, you can then tap Check In to record your attendance and Check Out after the event ends.
Data Handling
- Your location data is used only during the attendance check-in/check-out process.
- Location data is not stored continuously, shared with third parties, or used for purposes other than verifying event attendance.
- All personal data collected via the HKU App is handled in accordance with the University’s Privacy Policy.
