Add a file
To add a file in a course section
- Click “Turn editing on” if you have not already done so.
- Click “Add an activity or resource” and select File. The setting page will be displayed.
- Enter the Name of the file. It will be displayed on the course home page.
- Enter and format the Description of the file in the WYSIWYG editor.
- Under “Select files“, click the “Add” button.
- A file picker will be popped up.
- There are several ways to add a file:
- To upload a file from the local computer,
- Select “Upload a file” if it is not already selected.
- Click the “Browse” button and select a file.
- To reuse a file in any of your courses,
- Select “Server files” if it is not already selected.
- Course files are organized in folders. For example, for the file “lecture 1.doc” named “Lecture 1” uploaded to the course “Introduction to Moodle for Instructors which is under the category Miscellaneous, its path is “System/Miscellaneous/Introduction to Moodle for Instructors/Lecture 1 (File)/Files and subfolders/”. Navigate the folders by clicking on the folder/file icon or the folder path. Click on the desired file. The files may be listed as icons or lists. Only files from your courses on Moodle are available.
- Note that updates of the original file do not automatically reflect in the new file.
- Select “Server files” if it is not already selected.
- To reuse a recently uploaded file,
- Select “Recent files” if it is not already selected.
- The files you have recently uploaded will be listed as icons or lists. Click a file to select it.
- Note that updates of the original file do not automatically reflect in the new file.
- Select “Recent files” if it is not already selected.
- To upload a file from the local computer,
- Edit “Save as” to rename the file on Moodle.
- Edit “Author” to specify the author.
- Either click “Upload this file” to upload the file or “Select this file” for others.
- Click “Save and return to course“.
To edit a file in a section
- Click “Turn editing on” if you have not already done so.
- Select “Update” button next to the file. The setting page will be displayed.
- Follow the above section to edit a file.
- Click “Turn editing on” if you have not already done so.
