ITS is bringing a number of changes to the look and feel of HKU Moodle to improve both the accessibility and functionality for students, teachers and administrators.
The planned update is scheduled for 8:00am on 28th July 2024. Key improvements are highlighted below.
Course Management Bar
Settings and relevant course administration functions have now been placed as a navigation bar under the name of a Moodle course. The navigation bar should have improved the readability of the menu, allowing a more user-friendly course management.
Course Navigation Pane
The left pane is now serving mainly for course navigation. The streamlined and focused content allows users easily navigate to specific content of the course.
Mode Control Switch
The updated Moodle interface features a convenient button in the upper right corner, displaying the current editing status and enabling users to toggle the edit mode effortlessly with just one click.
Explicit Marking for Courses Hidden from Students
A message will appear in each course on the course overview page once instructors or course administrators designate the course to be invisible to students. Teachers, teaching assistants or other course administrators will thus be aware that students cannot currently access the course.
We hope the fresh design will make learning and teaching more focused and smoother for everyone in the HKU community. Just a couple of clicks, and you’ll get to experience all the convenient features of this new layout. Happy Teaching and Learning!
