New Look of My eLearning@HKU Portal

To mark the beginning of the new Academic Year 2025-2026, we are pleased to announce a refreshed and modernised experience for the My eLearning of HKU Portal.

The updated interface will go live in the morning of 18 August 2025.

What’s New:

  • A sleek and user-friendly design to include relevant courses under the care of staff members and students for better management and access
  • Improved responsive design and mobile compatibility for enhanced user experience across devices
  • (For staff members) Smoother guest account generation for ad-hoc access when needs arise
  • (For staff members) Streamlined enrolment management for enhanced efficiency

Please find some highlights of the new interface below according to your capacity (Staff or Students):

 

Staff’s View

1) Greetings

Users will be greeted with a display of their names, in line with the one shown in the front page of HKU Portal.

 

2) eLearning News

Announcements or relevant updates about eLearning can be found under this carousel section, with buttons to show next and previous news messages.

 

3) Useful Links

The section shows a selection of essential links in relation to eLearning services, which may be helpful to users in case of enquiries arise.

 

4) Moodle Course Roles

Staff members could have various roles in the context of Moodle courses, such as Teachers and Departmental Course Administrators. The tabs help colleagues with relevant roles to navigate and manage better courses, such as enable the course for access and email to class, under their care.

 

5) Academic Year Filter

Users can select the relevant Academic Year from the pulldown menu, while the current year will be shown by default.

 

6) Course Search Engine

This facilitates colleagues and students to search for courses of their wish easily.

 

7) Course List

Moodle courses can be found here as per the selected Academic Year.

 

8) Create Additional Moodle Courses

This button directs colleagues to create additional Moodle courses, e.g. combined courses or teacher-requested courses in addition to SIS courses.

8) Semester Filter
Students can filter relevant semesters to better navigate courses in concern.

9) UGRE Course
UGRE1001 Introduction to the Constitution, the Basic Law and the National Security Law is a non-credit bearing course required by the Regulation UG5(f) of the Regulations for First Degree Curricula as part of the graduation requirements for FT and PT UG students. Students with such requirement will be able to see the Course Link for direct access.

10) Moodle Assignment Deadlines Notifications
Once subscribed, students will see indications here to alert for any close deadlines of coming assignments as prescribed in relevant enrolled courses. Of course, you are always advised to check up-to-date information from teachers and course platform from time to time to ensure no assignments will be missed.

11) Subscription to Moodle Assignment Deadlines Notifications
This is the button when a student wants to subscribe to the notification alerts as noted in point 10 above.
