Procedure for Mac OS X to Access Universities via CSL

A. Pre-requisite

Please make sure your Wi-Fi LAN card is WPA-compliant and your Mac is installed with the latest WLAN driver from the vendor.  

B. Configuration Procedure (to be done once)

  1. In the menu, select System Preferences.
  2. Under System Preferences, select Network and Internet and click Network.

  4. Under Network, select Turn Wi-Fi On and unlock the interface if it is locked.  Click Advanced.cskwifi_mac_02
  5. Click the + button to add a new network.

  7. Select Show Networks.

  9. Select Universities via CSL from the available wireless networks and click Join.
  10. For staff, please enter your username in the format of UID@hku.hk. For students, please enter your username in the format of UID@connect.hku.hk.
  11. Enter your HKU Portal PIN in the Password field.
  12. Select Automatic under Mode.
  13. Click OK.

  17. You may see a box stating “The server certificate is not trusted because there are explicit trust settings”. Click Continue.

  19. Your computer should now connect to the Universities via CSL wireless network.

C. Connection Procedure

  1. Click WiFi icon at the top and select Universities via CSL. 
  2. An alert message on a not-trusted certificate may be displayed.
  3. Click Continue button to bypass the message.
  4. Your computer should now connect to the Universities via CSL wireless network.

D. Security Note

For better password security protection, you are advised to change your HKU Portal PIN if you have not changed it for six months.
