What kinds of user information is being stored by Zoom?

The University has enabled Single Sign On (SSO) for staff and students to use the Zoom service under HKU’s campus license.  Upon first-time successful login, a license will be assigned upon first- time successful login and only email address is passed and stored by Zoom.  

According to Zoom’s security whitepaper, Zoom only stores basic information under user account profile information:

  • Email address 
  • User password – salted, hashed 
  • First name 
  • Last name 
  • Company name (optional to provide) 
  • Company phone number (optional to provide) 
  • Profile picture (optional to provide)
