Open a protected email with protection in Outlook 2016 for Mac

Please refer to the following procedure to access email protected using "Do Not Forward".

NOTE: If you haven't signed in Microsoft Office with your account, the protected message will be displayed as below. Please sign in Microsoft Office with your account in order to read the message.

  1. When you receive protected email, Outlook displays it with an icon protected icon.
  2. In the Reading pane, you will see a message "Your credentials must be verified before you can access the message.

  3. Double click the protected message from the message list in Outlook to open it in a new window. The protected message will be shown in the new window as below.

  4. A header message will appear on the top of the composed message specifying that the permission of the message. You can click the message and then click "View Permission" to verify your permission of the message.

  5. If the email contains attached files with file name extension .ppdf/.pjpg/.ppng/.pgif/.ptxt/.pfile attached in the email, the RMS sharing application is required to access those attachments. Please refer to the procedure here.
